Buck McCoy is a former Western film star.
History[edit]
In his prime, Buck McCoy acted in many Westerns, including Texas Rangers Ride Again, Wyatt Earp Meets the Mummy, Six Brides for Seven Brothers, and Six-Gun Lullaby. However, when the 1970s came along, Westerns were no longer popular, so McCoy starred in the show McTrigger until he was written out of the show. After this, he became an alcoholic and barely left his mansion in Springfield.
In the present day, Bart was chased by a rabid dog. To escape it, he climbed over the gate to McCoy's mansion. McCoy then introduced himself to Bart and showed Bart a trick to turn the dog placid. McCoy showed Bart the inside of his mansion and introduced him to Frank the Wonder Horse, the horse who starred alongside McCoy in many of his films and even directed one. The retired actor then told Bart that he could come back anytime to see him.
Bart later took Milhouse to see McCoy, and McCoy gave them both a tour of his mansion, showing off his movie posters and props. However, Homer started to become jealous of the time Bart was spending with his new hero. When Buck was invited around to the Simpson house for dinner, Homer also dressed as a cowboy in an attempt to win Bart's attention. Buck also inspired Bart to start a Western craze at Springfield Elementary, with many of the students dressing as cowboys.
Wanting to see Buck have a comeback, Bart and Lisa went to Krusty to try and get Buck on The Krusty the Clown Show. Krusty agreed, and the kids then convinced Buck to come out of retirement for the show. While practicing for the episode, Buck showed that he still had his old skillset, hitting every target he was aiming for with his guns. However, Krusty told Buck that millions would be watching, which caused the actor to become stressed and start drinking. When the sketch Buck was taking part in started, he was late coming on stage. He then accidentally emptied one of his guns and missed where he was aiming with the second due to being drunk. He managed to shoot Krusty in the stomach. After the show, Buck apologized to Bart and the Simpsons and told them that he was an alcoholic. Krusty then told Buck that he would never be on the show again.
Bart was upset over his new hero turning out to be a dud, so Homer and Marge attempted to get Buck sober and poured away all of his alcohol, including a painting made of liquor. They also got Buck into the John Ford Center for Alcoholic Cowboys. However, Buck decided that it wasn't for him and quit in his first session. Homer felt bad about Bart being sad and came up with a plan when he saw a news report about a robbery at the National Bank of Springfield. Homer, Bart, and Buck went to the bank where Buck proceeded to lasso the guns away from the robbers and knock them out. Buck became a hero to Bart again, and he rode back home and told Bart to never bother him again.[1]
He later attended Lisa's town meeting about Lake Springfield. During Trappuccino, he was part of the mob that went after Homer for polluting the lake.[2]

Personality[edit]
Buck McCoy thinks very highly of himself and his career, referring to himself as the "most famous movie cowboy in the world." In his prime, he starred in many Western films and became a big name, which explains his ego. However, due to the decline in popularity of Western films, McCoy became a bit of a recluse in retirement. He also turned to alcohol as a coping method to deal with his new obscurity and any stressful situations he found himself in. Buck is also unwilling to let go, believing that he should be able to drink as much as he wants after his long life.
