Season 17 is the seventeenth broadcast season of The Simpsons. It originally ran on Fox from September 11, 2005, with "The Bonfire of the Manatees", to May 21, 2006, with "Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play". The season was mostly made up of production season HABF episodes, with seven rollover episodes from production season GABF also airing. Al Jean served as the showrunner for the season.

| After falling into debt with the Springfield Mafia, Fat Tony takes payment in the form of using his house as a set for a porn film. When Marge finds out, she leaves Homer and meets up with scientist Caleb Thorn. Homer and the kids then track Marge down so he can win her back.

| After a protest against construction happening on Evergreen Terrace, the construction gets swapped with the Springfield Cemetery, which Lisa can now see from her bedroom window. Nightmares cause Lisa sleepless nights, and she starts to sleep with her parents. Lisa is then admitted to therapy to help her get over her fears.

| In "B.I.: Bartificial Intelligence", after Bart falls into a coma, the family gets a new robot son, David. But when Bart wakes up, he's not happy about being replaced. In "Survival of the Fattest", Mr. Burns invites many of the townspeople to go hunting, but unbeknownst to them, they're the prey being hunted. In "I've Grown a Costume on Your Face", a witch turns everyone in Springfield into their costumed characters, and Maggie, being dressed as a witch, is the only one who can break the spell.
