Al Jolson was an American singer, comedian, and actor.
History[edit]
When Homer demonstrated outside Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, Mr. Burns told Smithers that he hadn't seen anything like that since Jolson and asked him who Homer was.[1]
Mr. Burns wanted Waylon Smithers to get Al Jolson for a private concert for himself and Marge. Smithers reminded Burns that he was dead the last time he asked that, then Burns remembered and told him to get Tom Jones.[2]
While on a date with who he thought was Lillian Gish, but was actually Smithers in a dress and wig, Mr. Burns told Smithers about him and Jolson capering about the room before he realized that his date wasn't Lillian Gish.[3]

After King Homer climbed a large building, Mr. Burns informed Smithers that his career was over. He remembered "when Al Jolson ran amok and climbed the Chrysler Building, after that he couldn't get arrested in this town".[4]
