Al Jolson was a singer, comedian, and actor, once dubbed "The World's Greatest Entertainer". Jolson was also a prominent protester for racial equality.
History[edit]
When Homer demonstrated outside Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, Mr. Burns told Smithers that he hasn't seen anything like that since Jolson, and asked him who Homer was.[1]
Mr. Burns wanted Waylon Smithers, Jr. to get Al Jolson for a private concert for himself, and Marge. Smithers reminded Burns that he was dead last time he asked that, then Burns remembered and told him to get Tom Jones.[2]

After King Homer climbs a large building Mr. Burns informs Smither's that his career was over, he remembers "when Al Jolson ran amok and climbed the Chrysler Building, after that he couldn't get arrested in this town".[3]
