History[edit]

When Homer demonstrated outside Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, Mr. Burns told Smithers that he hadn't seen anything like that since Jolson and asked him who Homer was.[1]

Mr. Burns wanted Waylon Smithers to get Al Jolson for a private concert for himself and Marge. Smithers reminded Burns that he was dead the last time he asked that, then Burns remembered and told him to get Tom Jones.[2]

While on a date with who he thought was Lillian Gish, but was actually Smithers in a dress and wig, Mr. Burns told Smithers about him and Jolson capering about the room before he realized that his date wasn't Lillian Gish.[3]
