Burn of the 4th is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2000.
Synopsis[edit]
- Homer invents a hat that grills hamburgers, only for it to set fire to the flag in the front yard.
Plot[edit]
Marge is making a jumper for Maggie which was supposed to look like the American flag, but since the fabric store was out of blue and white yarn, she had to improvise. This new jumper ends up looking like the flag of China instead. Meanwhile, Homer tests out the grill hat that he invented. While he tests it, he goes under the American flag on the flagpole outside the house, which starts to burn. Homer then gets an angry mob after him, so Marge runs and puts out the fire with Maggie's jumper, which starts to burn instead. The mob are happy that she saved the American flag while burning the Chinese flag. Homer says he learned a valuable lesson, and Marge asks if he learned not to play with fire. Homer denies learning that and instead says that he learned that the Chinese flag tastes just like cheese on a burger.
