All You Need Is Couch is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2000.
Synopsis[edit]
- Bart calls Kent Brockman of Channel 6 News with a tip for a story: Homer has been asleep on the couch for several days without waking up.
Plot[edit]
Bart calls Kent Brockman to ask if they still pay cash for news tips. Brockman is excited because a man spending his entire vacation on the couch is a good story. He goes to the Simpson house to report on day five of Homer's nap. After establishing that Homer was in fact sleeping and not dead, he asks what makes a man choose to sleep for an entire week. Marge says that he's never done this before, and he won't even watch TV, including bikini week on the Home Shopping Network.
Meanwhile, people have gathered outside the Simpson house to seek knowledge that they believe Homer will attain while sleeping. Brockman interviews Moe, who says that Homer better hurry up with enlightenment because he has to get back to Moe's Tavern. Brockman then notices Homer waking up. He asks Homer what he learned on his sleep odyssey, saying that the words will resound throughout the ages. In the year 2099, a statue of Homer on the couch with "All You Need Is Couch" written on its base is erected.
