Pie Man is a ridiculous 'so-called' superhero that Homer made up while at a county fair.

History

During a visit to the country fair, Lisa entered a place setting competition. Despite trying her best, she ended up losing after her entry was wrecked by The Rich Texan. This made Homer angry, so he decided to teach the Texan a lesson. However, Homer quickly recalled that he had been previously warned by the police that he'd go to jail if he committed another assault, so he used a quilt as a cape and an empty pie tin with eye and mouth holes cut out for a disguise to avoid recognition and then hit The Rich Texan with a pie to humiliate him.

From that point on, he smashed pies in wrongdoers' faces as 'Pie Man'. Chief Wiggum wanted to kill him, and when he shot him, Lisa discovered Pie Man was actually Homer. Later, Mr. Burns discovered it too and told Homer to smash pies on people he hates, otherwise Burns would reveal his identity to the police. During a visit from the Dalai Lama, Homer revealed himself, but nobody believed him, except Marge. Bart later acted as his sidekick, "Cupcake Kid".

While trying to stop the Stonecutters from robbing The Springfield Arts Museum, Pie Man and Cupcake Kid were interrupted by the Piemen of the World, a team of pastry-themed superheroes, which didn't include Pie Man. Pie Man and Cupcake Kid were invited to join them on the mission to stop the Stonecutters from assembling the Pie of All Power. They traveled to Pie Island, where the Pie-Fighter was shot down. Pie Man, Cupcake Kid, Mademoiselle Meringue, and The Tart successfully infiltrated the base and rescued the Bakers' Guild and the other members of the Piemen of the World. The Bakers' Guild then inducted Pie Man into the ranks of the Piemen of the World and let him keep the Pie of All Power safe.
