Synopsis[edit]
- Homer takes Lisa to a museum exhibit on Neanderthals. Lisa and the museum guide notice similarities between Homer and the Neanderthals.
Plot[edit]
Homer takes Lisa to a museum exhibit on Neanderthals at the Springfield Museum of Natural History. After finding out that they had just left the gift shop and hadn't actually seen the exhibit yet, Homer becomes annoyed as he wants to eat. Meanwhile, the museum guide tells the visitors about Neanderthals, saying that early man was ruled by his stomach and scavenged food wherever he could find it. Homer sees a vending machine and goes to get a snack from it. The museum guide goes on to say that sometimes hunger drove early man to extreme measures. Homer finds that the candy bar he bought has gotten stuck in the machine. The museum guide explains that Neanderthals relied on brute strength and simple tools to get what they wanted, while Homer hits the vending machine with a fake bone he bought from the gift shop. The museum guide says that brute strength was often not enough and could lead to fatal mistakes, as the vending machine falls over onto Homer. The museum guide then says that such mistakes were nature's way of making sure only the smartest survived, then tells Lisa to leave Homer alone as that's nature's way.
