Crazy Gil's Television Emporium is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2001.

Synopsis[edit]

Gil opens up a television store, Crazy Gil's Television Emporium, and offers free TVs to anyone who can watch 72 hours of television continuously.

Plot[edit]

Gil Gunderson has opened a new television shop, Crazy Gil's Television Emporium, and runs a competition: whoever among the first three people to walk into the shop can watch 72 straight hours of television wins a free TV. Homer, Ned Flanders, and Groundskeeper Willie enter the competition. Fifteen hours in, Ned is the first to drop out as an indecent soap commercial airs. 43 hours in, Gil is making a lot of sales from the publicity. 67 hours in, Homer and Willie argue over who is going to win. At 71 hours, the 27-7 Woman Network presents My Mother's Filthy Secret, starring Meredith Baxter-Birney and Mindy Cohn, which scares Willie and causes him to quit. With only one minute left, Homer thinks he has won the TV. However, Gil starts a barbecue in the shop to lure Homer away from the TV. Homer runs toward the barbecue, which sets fire to the cash Gil received from customers, and causes the shop to explode. Gil is sad because another business of his has burned down, and Homer asks when he'll get his TV.
