This Week in Local Sports is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2000.

Synopsis

Several sporting news stories from Springfield are reported on.

Plot

In local sports news, the Springfield Iron Man Competition is won by Chief Wiggum, who pulled a 2-ton truck 150 feet in 46 seconds. However, his trophy was later rescinded when somebody noticed he was just a pathetic fat man motivated by an addiction to tasty snack treats.

The Annual Springfield Slalom Race was won by Nelson Muntz, who used Milhouse Van Houten as a human bobsled.

Patty and Selma Bouvier won the National Department of Motor Vehicles' Tag-Team Wrestling trophy for five years running due to the forfeit of all other competitors.

Due to their ability to calculate the thrust, angle, and curve factors of ball-to-alley ratios, the Springfield Junior Achievers (made up of Lisa Simpson, Database, and E-mail) have won the Tri-State Youth Bowling Competition three years in a row, despite the fact that they can barely lift their bowling balls and throw like sissies.

Heavyweight champion Drederick Tatum celebrated his 1,000th T.K.O. by knocking out Principal Skinner during a motivational talk at Springfield Elementary School.

The final story is about Homer Simpson, who swallowed the cue ball while shoving pool balls in his mouth. The pool tournament has been postponed as a result.
