Mr. Burns Discusses Power is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2000.

Synopsis

On Smartline, Mr. Burns discusses various types of power and their negative impact on the world.

Plot

On Smartline, Kent Brockman reports that hippies are now bored because the country is at peace and The Grateful Dead are no longer touring, so they have turned their attention toward nuclear power again. Mr. Burns is brought onto the show, where Brockman asks him about the foibles of other power sources. Burns talks about solar power and says that it's unreliable because he needs to make sure he'll have power for his electric barbed wire fence. Brockman then asks Burns about hydro power, and Burns says that water was only good for watering horses and reviving bare-knuckle boxers in his day. Lisa is then brought onto the show via video, where she asks about wind power. Burns gets annoyed because wind power is "old-fashioned" and asks if Lisa wants to turn back the clock to live without science's other great gifts, like pureed food and napalm. Brockman then asks Burns for any tips on if a meltdown does occur, and Burns says that he welcomes it because it would allow him to make use of his 38-room bunker.
