Synopsis[edit]

The Simpsons prepare for Hurricane Nixon to hit town, with Homer going shopping for food.

Plot[edit]

On Channel 6 News, Kent Brockman reports that Springfield is in the path of Hurricane Nixon and that the local food supply is in peril as a result. The Simpsons are out of food, and no takeout service is operating because of the storm. Marge mentions that the Flanders family invited them over for dinner, but Homer refuses to sit through a meal with Ned. Homer tries to send Bart out to get food, but Marge makes Homer go instead.

Homer goes to the Kwik-E-Mart where Apu tells him the store is out of food. Apu suggests that Homer goes to Try-N-Save instead, where the employees are auctioning off the food. Homer wins "the last can of food in Springfield," which turns out to be false as Mr. Burns has shelves full of Soylent Green and is making the employee market them as the last can instead. Homer makes his way home with the tin of food, only for it to be taken away by the hurricane. The Simpsons then eat with the Flanders family, with Ned reciting a very long prayer before the meal, which Homer ignores as he starts eating before the prayer is finished.
