Lisa Simpson Presents: The History of Polo is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2001.
Synopsis[edit]
- Lisa tells the reader about the history of the game of kings: polo.
Plot[edit]
Polo is thought to have first started in Persia around 600 B.C. and was a game played by royalty.
There are 4 to 8 rounds in a game of polo, called chukkas.
Both men and women play polo. The wife of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir was famous for her playing.
Polo is played on ponies, one for each chukka. A string of ponies means eight ponies in all.
The Turkish Khan Timurlane once ordered his calvary to play polo with the heads of their captives.
Today, the king of games is played in 48 countries around the world, even here in Springfield. You no longer have to be a king to play polo.
