When Chief Wiggum dealt with a report from a person that reported liquor store robbery with an officer down he said ironically to the person "sure", and I'm Edward G. Robinson and hung up the phone.[1]
During the lawsuit between Chester J. Lampwick and Itchy & Scratchy Studios, Roger Meyers Jr. argued that animation was built on plagiarism and mentioned various entertainers and characters as examples, including Huckleberry Hound, Chief Wiggum, Yogi Bear, Andy Griffith, Edward G. Robinson, and Art Carney.[2]
He appears in the Itchy & Scratchy short, "Dogday Hellody of 1933" where he shot a dog held on trial with his submachine gun, as the jury of Scratchys didn't have time to deliberate and decided instantly to sentence him to death.[3]

When Homer was killing celebrities, they came down from Celebrity Heaven and Edward G. Robinson said to Chief Wiggum "You ripped me off, see?" Chief Wiggum replied with "No, I didn't, see?" Edward than said "You're gonna pay for what you done, see?" and than shot Chief Wiggum in the stomach. Wiggum than said "I always thought I'd die of hepatitis [short silence], C?".[4]
