When Homer was an artist, Lisa tried to make him mad by reading the newspaper. Lisa read him an article saying that David Letterman might be hosting the Oscars, with other contenders being Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal.[2]

Behind the Laughter

Goldberg has hosted the Oscars four times between 1994 and 2002. The ceremony in question (2000) was hosted by Billy Crystal.
