"When it comes to education – the devil is in the details - quite literally! Bart gets re-zoned to Hellementary School! And the Springfield schools get some... interesting... transfer students. Old Scratch, the devil himself, comes to put the barter back in charter school, but will you trade your soul for an elementary school education? Can the Simpsons out-bargain the Prince of Darkness? Or will an eternity of damnation be their fate?"

Treehouse of Horror XXXI is the two-hundred and third content update for The Simpsons: Tapped Out. It started on October 14, 2020 and ended on November 18, 2020. It was based on the "School Is Hell" segment of the Season 26 episode "Treehouse of Horror XXV" and was the ninth "Treehouse of Horror" update for the game.

• The app icon and the splash screen were changed to new ones for the event.
• The decorations limit was increased from 13,000 to 14,000.
• Water was changed to the spooky green look, except Rivers.
• Autumn look has been set for trees.
• Lisa, Milhouse, Martin, Database, Cosine Tangent, Uter, and Lewis Clark were added to the Nerd Kids character group.
• The Impossible Tower was added to the Decorations inventory group.
• Alcatraaaz's "Raise His Sneaker Game" job animation was assigned correctly to the job instead of being "Enjoy His Financial Security," which is now an indoor job at Alcatraaaz's Mansion.
