Mr. Goodboy is a baby chimp that Bart and Lisa briefly adopted.
History
In an attempt to stop The Krusty the Clown Show going public domain, Krusty tried to make a Krusty Babies! show. He had a baby chimp play Mr. Teeny in the show, but it ultimately failed because Krusty couldn't get the babies playing himself and Sideshow Mel and the chimp to act how he wanted them to. Krusty told Wayne the Grip to take the chimp back to the jungle or wherever it came from. Wayne told the chimp that he would find the perfect home for him.
This perfect home turned out to be a Little Free Library which Bart and Lisa walked by. When they saw the chimp inside, they decided to adopt him together, naming him Mr. Goodboy. They excitedly took Mr. Goodboy home and showed him to Homer and Marge. Homer and Marge were reluctant to have a chimp in the house, but decided to let the kids keep him because Bart and Lisa were getting along, and thought that they would soon abandon the chimp. Bart took Mr. Goodboy to school as part of a prank, but became concerned for him when he got covered in flour. Bart decided that he would never put Mr. Goodboy into dangerous situations again. Meanwhile, Lisa turned to parenting books to help her take care of her new chimp. She found a book called Free Range Parenting: Letting Go to Let Them Grow, which taught parents to take a hands-off approach to parenting and let kids figure things out for themselves, so Lisa decided to try that for Mr. Goodboy.
Homer and Marge decided to watch a documentary about chimps to learn how to better care for Mr. Goodboy. When Marge left the room, the documentary took a dark turn and spoke about how dangerous chimps could be when they grew up, and how chimps raised around people would attack people they deem a threat. The documentary showed an example of a chimp ripping off a man's face and groin, which scared Homer. Meanwhile, Bart and Lisa started to have arguments over how to raise Mr. Goodboy. While Bart child-proofed everything, Lisa let Mr. Goodboy jump on the bed and he fell off. Bart became angry at Lisa for letting him do that and forbade him from jumping on the bed anymore. When they realized they were arguing in front of Mr. Goodboy, they stopped and pretended there weren't any issues between them.
Eventually, the parenting clashes between Bart and Lisa became too much, and they decided to go to therapy for help. They went to see the school therapist, Elizabeth Story, but found Nelson there instead. They took therapy from Nelson but left the room to find that Mr. Goodboy had gone. They rushed home to tell Homer and Marge before Bart remembered he put a tracker on the chimp. They tracked him to Freedom Chimps, a budget zoo, safari, and shooting range, and found a video of Clark and his sister capturing Mr. Goodboy outside the school.
The Simpsons went to Freedom Chimps to rescue Mr. Goodboy. Lisa found the key and threw it to Mr. Goodboy, who unlocked the cage before swallowing the key. However, the other adult chimps in the cage also got free and surrounded Bart and Lisa. Seeing his kids in trouble, Homer distracted the chimps by removing his codpiece to protect his crotch, and pulled down his pants. The chimps attacked Homer, leaving Bart and Lisa to get Mr. Goodboy to safety. After Ape Solutions arrived to close down the zoo and take the animals to a wildlife sanctuary, Bart and Lisa saw Mr. Goodboy with another chimp and decided to let him go to the sanctuary with the other chimps to give him a better life.
