When Bart and Lisa adopted a baby chimp, Mr. Goodboy, Lisa went to look for a parenting book in the house to help her raise him. She found Free Range Parenting: Letting Go to Let Them Grow still in its shrink wrap and decided to try it out. The book taught Lisa about free-range parenting, which involved letting the child (or in this case, chimp) try things out to learn about them, even if it involved getting hurt. This went against Bart's parenting methods of coddling Mr. Goodboy.
