In his youth, Homer performed as a one-man band under the name Archie Bell and also the Drells. One day, he stood outside a pizza restaurant with a guitar, ready to showcase his new song, "Tighten Up." When he began playing, his performance caused everyone to leave the area. Nearby, Giuseppe, an organ grinder, scolded Homer for scaring off his customers and ordered his monkey, Pepe, to "go for the face." The monkey complied, leaping at Homer, who fell over in a panic and screamed as Pepe attacked him.
Behind the Laughter[edit]
"Tighten Up" is a real song by Archie Bell & the Drells. Ironically, Archie Bell's career was ultimately undermined by other groups copying his name.
