The Grateful Dead's album "Long Strange Trip To Shelbyville" was used by the Eco-friendly Activists during Homer's beer detox, which he listened to for three days.[1]

When Homer found the free trampoline ad in the Springfield Shopper, one of the other items being given away was Grateful Dead tickets for a concert in Capitol City.[2]

On Smartline, Kent Brockman reported that since the country was at peace and The Grateful Dead were no longer touring, hippies had become bored.[4]
