Character Information
|
Phil Silvers is an American entertainer and comedic actor.
History[edit]
On the way to search for the treasure under a "big T," Bart tricked Silvers into crossing a "shallow" river. Later, he dug a hole next to Buddy Hackett with the people of Springfield under the Big T Tree.
Behind the Laughter[edit]
Silvers was dressed as Otto Meyer, from the 1963 comedy film It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. The scene where Bart tricks a man into driving a car into "shallow" water is an exact recreation of the moment when Otto Meyer gets his car stuck in a river after trusting a kid he met on the road.
