Hansel and his sister Gretel are the title characters in the fairy tale Hansel & Gretel.
History[edit]
Homer said aloud while he looked through a View-Master, "Ooh, a {ap|Gingerbread House|Treehouse of Horror XI|gingerbeard house}}. Hansel and Gretel are set for life." <and "Boy, that Hansel sure can eat." [1]
Marge read the Hansel & Gretel story in Beloved Children's Stories to Maggie[2] and in a flashback four years earlier Homer read the bedtime story with Hansel on the book cover.[3] Maggie enjoyed the scary parts while a younger Lisa was scared by them.

Mr. Burns and Waylon Smithers had Hansel and Gretel captured in cages. Hansel asked Mr. Burns why he wasn't fattening them up and Burns said that he liked children stringy and tough.[4]
