• The title is a reference to Days of Wine and Roses.
• Bart and Lisa try to take a picture of some dogs playing poker. This is a reference to the Dogs Playing Poker oil paintings.
• The "12 steps" Homer talks about at the Alcoholics Anonymous meeting refer to Twelve-step program, the path established by the American Psychological Association for alcohol addiction detox.

• As the mail lady drops Moe's mail through the mail slot, we see that his address is 57 Walnut Street.
• Susan from "Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield" is one of the attendees at the A.A. meeting.

Goofs

• The number of chairs in the bar change from four chairs (when Moe wants Homer to be the new Barney) to three (when Homer dances).
• In the bar when Moe puts the helicopter lessons card on the bar table, the card is floating in the air.
• At the end of "Marge vs. the Monorail", the Springfield Monorail was anchored to a donut shop; however, in this episode, it is crashed identically to the North Haverbrook Monorail.
• When Moe puts the video tape of Barney's birthday in the VCR his arm is colored blue.
• Rainier Wolfcastle's shorts are missing the line on the right leg (left from a viewer's perspective) for a few frames.
