Cultural references[edit]

• The episode title is a reference to the Last Man Standing challenge and the TV series Last Man Standing.
• In the couch gag, Homer says "this guy must be a pinball wizard," referencing the song "Pinball Wizard" by The Who.
• Lenny asks if a woman named Diane worked at Moe's Tavern, but got replaced by a woman named Rebecca. This is a reference to Diane Chambers and Rebecca Howe from Cheers.

The Danish drug Othinquic takes a leading role in the episode. It is a parody of Ozempic, an anti-diabetes and anti-obesity medication sold by the Danish multinational Novo Nordisk

  • As seen later in the sponsor ad, Othinquic is a Danish drug, referencing Ozempic again, which is manufactured and sold by the Danish multinational Novo Nordisk.
  • The song "Oh, Oh, Oh, Othinquic" resembles Pilot's greatest hit "Magic", which was used in the 2018 television advertisement of Ozempic, replacing the intro "Oh, Oh, Oh, It's Magic" with "Oh, Oh, Oh, Ozempic".
• Barney starts dancing the Can-can while vocalizing to "Infernal Galop" from Orpheus in the Underworld by Jacques Offenbach.
• Carl mentions the medication Viagra, which was originally created as a treatment for angina, but had the side effect of treating erectile dysfunction.
• The bank robbers are wearing clown masks in the same way the Joker's thugs did in the 2008 superhero film The Dark Knight during the bank heist scene.

  • Opal mentions her boyfriend "Steadfast", a reference to Oprah Winfrey's partner, Stedman Graham.

  • Opal buying Othinquic is a reference to Oprah's partnering with Weight Watchers and buying 10% stake of the company.
  • Opal points at the audience saying "You get an Othinquic" is reference to Oprah's "You get a car" giveaway.
  • Opal tells to the audience to "Remember to only read books I like" is a reference to Oprah's Book Club.
• Wrong-Aid Pharmacy is a parody of Rite Aid.

Trivia[edit]

• The opening sequence uses a new shortened version. The only scenes seen are the title screen gag, Otto eating the carbon rod with Bart skating past him, and part of the quick sequence to the Simpsons House, where the final part plays as normal.
• Patty got engaged to a different woman, implying that she and Evelyn broke up.

• In the title screen gag, Sideshow Bob flies across the screen on a rake in the same outfit he wore in The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.
• Larry's urn is seen on top of the Love Tester in Moe's. ("Cremains of the Day")
• The bank robbers appear to be Lem and the other friend of his and Dickie. The mask that the unnamed robber wore is the same mask he wore when the three of them went to confront Homer at home. ("Halloween of Horror")
