Marge hopes to save Springfield Elementary by inviting a reclusive British children's author to appear at the school's book fair. But Homer botches his assignment of picking the author up at the airport, and the drunken pepper pot leads him on a desperate wild chase to get her to the school on time.[8][6]

Bart and Lisa adopt an abandoned baby chimp and clash over their surprisingly different parenting styles. When the chimp is abducted by a private wild animal zoo, the family goes on a mission to rescue him. Homer is conflicted about saving the ape, because he's convinced the chimp will tear off his face and groin.[10]

The producers wanted to make "Treehouse of Horror" episodes genuinely scary. There will be a stop-motion sequence by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios that is a parody of A Nightmare Before Christmas. One segment will be a mashup between the film Freaky Friday and the Stephen King book Pet Sematary where Bart and Santa's Little Helper swap bodies.[6]

  • An episode will have Bart and Lisa adopt a baby chimp. Homer becomes obsessed with the monkey tearing off his face when the monkey is older. Homer has a vivid dream sequence where his face is gone, goes to hospital, has his face reattached to his groin by monkey surgeons. Producers joke that the episode will traumatize kids.[6]
