Season 20 is the twentieth broadcast season of The Simpsons. It originally ran on Fox from September 28, 2008, with "Sex, Pies and Idiot Scrapes", to May 17, 2009, with "Coming to Homerica". The season was mostly made up of production season LABF episodes, with nine rollover episodes from production season KABF also airing. Al Jean served as the showrunner for the season.

Bart meets his doppelganger, Simon Woosterfield, a member of the richest family in Springfield, and the two decide to switch places. Simon adjusts nicely to his new digs at the Simpson home, while Bart discovers that his new siblings are plotting his death so they can have his inheritance.

In "Untitled Robot Parody", transforming robots turn Springfield into a battleground, fighting each other before turning on humanity. In "How to Get Ahead in Dead-Vertising", when Homer accidentally kills Krusty, the clown's crooked lawyer enlists Homer to kill other celebrities so their likenesses can be exploited free of charge. In "It's the Grand Pumpkin, Milhouse", the Grand Pumpkin awakes and goes on a revenge rampage for all the pumpkins carved and tortured for Halloween.

The Simpsons take a road trip to Kozy Kabins, where Homer and Marge once vacationed 20 years ago. In a series of flashbacks, Homer and Marge reflect on some history from the early days of their relationship, and Bart and Lisa recall some pleasant memories from their younger years.

But Springfield's Freemasons are also hot on the trail of the jewel. Meanwhile, Homer does his best to convince a temporarily blind Marge that Maggie is still with them.

Meanwhile, Marge wants Homer to spend more time with Maggie. Homer obliges and finds himself in luck when he discovers a children's play area right next to Moe's Tavern.

Bart volunteers at the Springfield Retirement Castle in order to impress Jenny, a girl who likes helping the world, but this leaves Milhouse less than impressed. Meanwhile, Lisa becomes depressed when she writes a report on what Springfield will be like 50 years from now, but her new medication makes her start hallucinating.

But a dream he has shows that might not be the best course of action for their development. Meanwhile, Marge finds a secret sauna in the basement and keeps it to herself.

Homer pretends to live in Waverly Hills so that Bart and Lisa can move to a better school. Meanwhile, Lisa's lack of knowledge about Alaska Nebraska makes her unpopular, until Bart spreads a rumor about her being friends with the singer.

Lisa and Marge tell stories about great women while having a mani-pedi. The first is about Queen Elizabeth I, who was great despite not having a husband. The second story is of Snow White and the Seven Legally-Distinct Dwarfs. The third is about Homer taking part in a play about Macbeth, with Marge helping him get a bigger role by murdering the other actors. The final story is about Maggie Roark in a parody of The Fountainhead.

Ogdenville's economy takes a tumble after tainted barley is discovered in Krusty's veggie burgers, and the unemployed of Ogdenville flock to Springfield. When Mayor Quimby closes off the town's borders and enlists private citizens to help patrol them, Homer puts together a border patrol group. Meanwhile, the number of Ogdenvillians in town causes issues for the locals.
