This article is about references to MacGyver. For the TV show, see MacGyver (TV series). For the titular character, see Angus MacGyver.

MacGyver is an American action-adventure television series starring Richard Dean Anderson as Angus MacGyver. In The Simpsons, MacGyver is Patty and Selma's favorite TV series.

A reboot series was released in 2016, starring Lucas Till as MacGyver.

4 72 "Selma's Choice" When Homer hugged Patty and Selma, Patty told Selma to just close her eyes and think of MacGyver.

6 121 "A Star Is Burns" When Patty and Selma asked Jay Sherman to tell them who in the movie business was gay, Homer told him to say MacGyver. This led to Sherman being hung from the roof by his underpants.
16 347 "Goo Goo Gai Pan" When Selma started menopause, she decided to adopt a child from China and visited the Consulate of China. Here, she learned from Mr. Zhao that she needed a husband to adopt a child. Selma asked Zhao if he knew who MacGyver was, intending to put down his name, but Zhao knew him. Instead, Selma put Homer down as her husband.
MacGyver.png 17 373 "Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore" Patty and Selma kidnapped Richard Dean Anderson when he was in Springfield for a Stargate SG-1 convention, informing him that he was now doing a two-fan MacGyver convention. They tied Anderson to a chair and told him to use his MacGyver skills to escape. Anderson did so, then discovered he liked doing the escape and asked Patty and Selma to tie him up again and again so he could do even more complex escapes. In an ironic turn of events, Anderson ended up becoming a nuisance to Patty and Selma, and they could not wait to be rid of him.
