Hippo was the place associated with St. Augustine of Hippo, whom Homer Simpson mentioned after accidentally receiving baptismal water during Ned Flanders' attempt to baptize Bart. When Bart asked how he felt, Homer replied that he felt "like St. Augustine of Hippo after his conversion by Ambrose of Milan."
