Montpelier is the capital city of Vermont.

While in The Prodigy Barn, Bart played a video game that involved blasting the capital cities of every state. He was having fun until he realized it was an educational game and threw the controller at the TV screen, exclaiming, "That'll teach you to teach me!"[1]
One of the mistresses offered up to Mayor Quimby by his father on his wedding day was the winner of the Miss Montpelier beauty pageant who was blowing a bubble with her gum.[2]
