The Child Welfare Board is the Department of Child Welfare office in Springfield responsible for investigating reports of child neglect and supervising child welfare cases.

After discovering Bart Simpson's head lice and Lisa Simpson's neglected appearance, Principal Seymour Skinner contacted the Child Welfare Board by telephone. Moments later, a van from the Springfield child protection agency departed from the office and headed to Evergreen Terrace to investigate the Simpson household. The agency's representatives, Agent Goodman and a female caseworker, subsequently removed Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson from their parents' custody.
The Child Welfare Board later became the location where Homer and Marge Simpson attended the mandatory "Family Skills" course ordered by the court. Upon successfully completing the program, the Simpsons were permitted to regain custody of their children.
