William of Ockham was an English Franciscan friar and philosopher, widely known for Occam's razor.

History[edit]

During a discussion about the strange behavior of Springfield's adults, Lisa Simpson referenced Ockham's razor, the philosophical principle associated with William of Ockham. Attempting to dismiss conspiracy theories involving UFOs and secret plots, Lisa argued that “the simplest explanation is probably the correct one.” Her efforts failed when the other children instead became convinced that “reverse vampires” were responsible.
