The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood was one of the novels that Martin suggested that Bart could read instead of comic books.[1]
At Krustyland, Lisa said that she had lost her glasses. Bart told her that she didn't wear glasses. Lisa then told him that she meant her commemorative set of glassware based on the works of Margaret Atwood.[2]
