Mufasa is a deceased lion character from the Disney animated movie The Lion King. In the movie, he was killed by another lion named Scar.
History[edit]
While Lisa Simpson was speaking with Bleeding Gums Murphy during his appearance in the clouds above Springfield, Mufasa briefly appeared and interrupted their conversation by addressing Simba. In apparent confusion, he began by saying, "You must avenge my death, Kimba," before correcting himself and saying, "I mean, Simba." He then disappeared, allowing Murphy to continue his farewell to Lisa.
Behind the Laughter[edit]
Mufasa is a character from the film The Lion King. His voice in the movie was provided by James Earl Jones, but by Harry Shearer in the episode.
Mufasa's line, "You must avenge my death, Kimba... I mean, Simba", is a reference to the often-repeated but unfounded claims that The Lion King plagiarised the 1960s' animated series, Kimba the White Lion.
