William Dawes was a tanner who was one of several men and a woman who alerted colonial minutemen of the approach of British army troops prior to the Battle of Lexington and Concord at the outset of the American Revolution.
History[edit]
After Lisa began researching Jebediah Springfield at the Springfield Historical Society, curator Hollis Hurlbut told her that some historians considered Jebediah only a minor patriot. Hurlbut disagreed, saying that he considered Jebediah to be easily the equal of William Dawes or even Samuel Otis.[1]
Lisa wrote her homework about him but fainted after Ms. Cantwell only gave her a B grade for it.[2]
