When a teachers' strike closed Springfield Elementary School, Lisa Simpson relied on a "Strike Preparedness Kit" she had assembled in advance. The kit contained a math textbook, a photograph of the school, a recording of her teacher's classroom instructions, and cafeteria-style fish sticks.
