Pun: "What's New Pussycat?"
Season: 15
Director: Charles Montgomery Burns
First appearance: "Fraudcast News"

"What's Nuked, Pussycat?" is an episode of The Itchy & Scratchy Show. It was written and directed by Charles Montgomery Burns.

Plot[edit]

A hippie-dressed Scratchy protests with a sign saying "no nukes" outside the Nuclear Power Plant, when Nuclear Power Plant worker Itchy spears him with a forklift truck and says he'll show Scratchy why he and all protestors are "wrong." Itchy tells hippie Scratchy about the benefits of nuclear power as he drives by various locations, explaining that it generates energy for the local orphanage, which is filled with young versions of Itchy and Scratchy who wave at them, and a hospital where medical Itchies rush in a Scratchy with swords impaled in him into the emergency room.

When Scratchy suggests using wind power instead, deeming it both cheap and safe, Itchy refutes this claim by driving Scratchy up to a wind turbine, and Scratchy is decapitated by the turbine's spinning blades. An eagle caricature of Mr. Burns (voiced by Burns himself) flies into frame, telling viewers that "Nuclear power is your friend, and so is Monty Burns." Scratchy's head, still stuck to the blade of the wind turbine as his body tries to fetch back the head, tells viewers not to follow his example and "vote Republican," with Itchy saying "God Bless America!" before adding, "this cartoon was made in Korea."

Behind the Laughter[edit]

What's Nuked Pussycat is a play on the 1965 Screwball comedyWhat's New Pussycat? and the movie's title song by Burt Bacharach and sung by Tom Jones.

Itchy's comment about the cartoon being made in Korea is a reference to many cartoons, including The Simpsons itself, being animated in South Korea.
