Robotic Richard Simmons
|
Character Information
|
The Robotic Richard Simmons was a robot version of fitness instructor Richard Simmons.
History[edit]
When Mr. Burns told Smithers to release the Robotic Richard Simmons, Smithers pulled down a handle and the robot, complete with Richard Simmons-style curly hair, came out of the side wall that bordered the front steps to Burns' mansion. A speaker emerged from the robot's head playing K.C. and the Sunshine Band's "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty". Although it successfully scared Homer away, the robot went out of control and Mr. Burns, Smithers, and Bart became concerned it would attack them. Smithers pulled out a pump-action shotgun and shot the robot, but its head regenerated (in the shapeshifting, nanomorph style of the T-1000 robot from the Terminator movies). The robot continued dancing wildly and shaking its rear end, until Smithers proclaimed "His ass is gonna blow!" and fled inside the mansion to safety along with Mr. Burns and Bart. Shortly thereafter, the robot exploded and its head flew off, landing far down the driveway near the front gates of Burns' estate.
Behind the Laughter[edit]
The scene was deleted from "Burns' Heir" as it didn't get enough of a good reaction from the table reading. Richard Simmons was eager to play a part in the show but declined after he found out he would be voicing a robot.[1] The scene was later shown in "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular".
