Polydectes is a king of the island of Seriphos in Greek mythology.

History

Medusa was dating King Polydectes, but she dumped him. Polydectes never got over her, so Medusa started turning people into stone with her second-hand smoke to get his attention again.

King Polydectes asked Perseus to bring back Medusa's head as a punishment for crashing his "mini-chariot" into him. Perseus took Medusa back to King Polydectes, and Medusa revealed that she still had feelings for the king. King Polydectes proposed to her, and they got married. However, Medusa had turned the king to stone, so he had to be wheeled into the wedding.
