Synopsis[edit]
- When Marge realizes that everyone views her as boring, she takes up competitive lumberjacking as a hobby and discovers she has a real gift for it. The circuit of competitive timbersports takes her on a month-long retreat to Portland with her trainer, Paula, whom Homer worries is going to steal her away forever.
At the Springfield Elementary School, the children perform dramatic scenes written by themselves. After an introduction from Chalmers and Skinner, Milhouse, Ralph, Sherri, and Terri perform their scene of Riverdale; Jimbo, Dolph, and Kearney perform a scene of Let's Players recording themselves playing a game for MyTube; and Martin, Jimbo, Sophie, and Lewis Clark perform a play based on The Masked Singer.
At the end, it is Lisa's turn as herself, Database (as Bart), Ralph (as Homer), Sam Monroe (as Marge), and Kearney (as Maggie) performing a play of the Simpson family, which makes them feel uncomfortable about how people see them from the outside (and in Lisa's view of them). To change people's perception of her being boring, Marge tries to deliver a funny sermon at the First Church of Springfield, but fails.
On the way home, a lightning bolt hits a tree, causing the trunk to fall on top of the car. The next day, Homer starts chopping down the trunk but soon falls asleep in his hammock, so Marge begins chopping it herself. Patty invites Paula to watch her doing the job and suggests she become a lumberjill in the woods.
Marge eventually takes up timbersports and competes in the Springfield Timbersports Pro-am, which she wins against other men. Paula later asks her to become her partner by training for a month in Portland, and she accepts.
One month later, the family goes to Portland to bring Marge back but finds her settling into the house with Paula and unsure about returning the day after the competition, the Grizzly Timbersports Northwest Championship. They win, and Paula tells Homer that she has a family and is not interested in Marge. They return home, and to boost Maggie's confidence, Homer gives her a toy chainsaw, which scares her.
