Jarvis is the owner of The Old Springfield Book Nook.

History

When the Simpson family went to The Old Springfield Book Nook, Lisa started breathing in the smell of the shop, but Jarvis told her that she shouldn't do that as the air had a lot of particulate rat droppings. Bart asked Jarvis what he had for a kid who wished that his father was dead, and Jarvis handed him The Art of War by Sun Tzu. Jarvis then asked Bart if he was sure he wanted war with his father, to which Bart responded with "I do not seek war, but neither do I turn away."
