Humpty Dumpty is a fictional character from a traditional English nursery rhyme, usually depicted as a anthropomorphic egg who falls from a wall and cannot be put back together again.

History[edit]

Bart spent time tutoring a boy by teaching nursery rhymes through a corporate self-improvement perspective, explaining that Humpty Dumpty had a great fall because he “took his eyes off the prize,” and emphasizing that staying focused was the key to staying “on the wall.”[1]

Candace’s friends questioned why she liked Homer, joking that perhaps he paid her rent, donated kidneys, or even needed a Humpty Dumpty catcher. Candace finally admitted that Homer reminded her of a childhood snowman, adding that unlike a real one, he would never melt.[2]

Chloe read the nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty” at the Springfield Kid Kennel, prompting Homer to imagine himself as Humpty J. Dumpty, a cracked egg who leaked and ate his own yolk.[3]

Humpty Dumpty was sitting on a wall when Lenny and Carl rode by on horses. They told Humpty Dumpty that it was dangerous to sit on the wall when he was so delicate. Humpty Dumpty said that if he leaned back, he could see Heaven, and started rocking. Lenny, Carl, and several other townspeople gathered to try to get Humpty Dumpty down before he fell. Humpty Dumpty then threw himself off the wall, saying that he could fly. As Moe started to clean Humpty Dumpty up, Homer looked at him hungrily. Carl asked what they would tell his parents, and Lenny said to tell them to bring the bacon.[4]
