Synopsis[edit]

"Homer and Bart become kings of the blue-collar sports circuit, but Marge suspects something dishonest at the core of their father-son bond."

Plot[edit]

On the news, Kent Brockman reports that longtime fishing champ, Abraham Simpson, is retiring after a twenty year win streak at the Springfield Fishing Derby. Abe says that he's handing over his legacy to Homer, who he expects to win due to the Simpson fishing gene. However, Homer isn't happy about this as he's never won anything and he doesn't think he will this time either. At school the next day, Lisa asks Principal Skinner for a recommendation letter to the University of Springfield Summer Camp. However, Skinner can't complete the letter as the printer bursts into flames.

At the Fishing Derby, Grampa does the ceremonial first cast before the competition begins. Homer, who is in a boat, struggles to catch anything before he capsizes. As everyone laughs at him, Homer finds that he managed to get a fish into the boat as he righted the boat. The contestants all weigh their fish and Homer wins with the heaviest fish. When the family get home, Homer begins to prepare the fish to be eaten, but finds it's full of Bart's slingshot marbles. Bart reveals that he stuffed it with marbles because watching Homer lose was boring. Homer gives Bart a hug for helping him cheat to win.

At school the next day, Homer pulls Bart out to go to a doctor's appointment. In the car, he reveals to Bart that they're actually going to the Springfield Rock Skipping Championship to cheat there. Meanwhile, at home, Lisa complains to Marge about still not receiving a confirmation that she has been accepted to the Summer Camp. Back at the competition, Homer wins, with Bart using a fishing rod to pull Homer's stone across the water. The two of them then go on to cheat in multiple other competitions, winning them all.

At home, Marge and Lisa talk about how weird it is that they have won so many competitions and Marge confronts Homer about it. Homer admits to cheating but refuses to stop his father-son bonding activity. Back in the house, Lisa still hasn't been accepted to the Summer Camp. Someone then knocks on the door and Lisa finds a camp counselor, who tells her she's been accepted to the camp for the rowing team. Lisa is shocked and looks at her application, only to see doctored photos of her as a rower. At The Springfield Axe Games, Lisa confronts Homer about the application, thinking he cheated on it for her. She then reveals to everyone that Homer was cheating at the competition, which leads everyone to realize that he was cheating at all the competitions. They then chase the Simpsons out of the competition, who then hide behind a billboard for Woke Spit Tofu Chaw. Marge admits to Lisa that she was the one who faked her camp application, which makes Homer sick as Marge should be innocent and shouldn't be cheating. As the other competitors catch up to them, Homer accepts his fate of being killed by them, only for the Simpsons to be taken by another group of people.

The Simpsons are taken to the University of Springfield where they meet with Dean Belichick. Belichick reveals to Lisa that she's been accepted to the camp, as all the other applicants also cheat on their applications and the camp likes cheaters. Lisa is horrified to hear this and refuses to go to the camp as it goes against her morals, despite part of her still wanting to go. Belichick then offers Homer a job teaching people how to cheat, but he turns it down. Later, the Simpsons hang out together on the dock, without Bart. When the family wonders where Bart goes every Thursday from 7-9pm, Bart is seen teaching how to cheat at the Jim Harbaugh Center for Competitive Imbalance.
