Bartman - Part Two: Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves is a Bartman comic story first printed in Bartman #5. It is the second part of a three-part series.
Synopsis[edit]
- With Milhouse missing, Bart considers taking up the mantle of Bartman once more. However, an injury means he has to let new heroes Lisa the Conjuror and the Great Maggeena rescue Milhouse from the evil Canker in his stead.
It has been three days since Milhouse was kidnapped by Canker's henchmen and Chief Wiggum leads the search for him at Ye Olde Off-Ramp Inn. However, they only find a dummy of Milhouse instead. Seeing the purple "B" written on the dummy, Kent Brockman reports that Bartman is behind the kidnapping. Meanwhile, at Canker's hideout, Low Blow acts surprised that his boss actually pulled off framing Bartman for Milhouse's disappearance. This angers the villain, who has Milhouse tied to a chair on top of a whoopee cushion. That night, Bart doesn't have much of an appetite while eating dinner. Grampa wants to watch the search for Bartman on television while they eat, so the family goes to do that. Wanting to rescue his friend, Bart vows that Bartman will return.
At the docks, Smithers helps unload a delivery to Mr. Burns, which is a crate containing Project "Be My Hero". Burns says that now they just have to wait for Bartman's eventual demise. Meanwhile, Bart is in the Bartman Cave running a search to figure out who Canker is. Not having any luck, Bart decides to search Springfield himself. In Kent Brockman's office, Miss Grant suggests to her boss that he may be masterminding the whole story against Bartman himself. Brockman becomes angry because she's onto him and opens a secret passage behind his bookshelf. Back at Bart's treehouse, Bartman is suited up and ready to go find Milhouse. However, he falls from the treehouse and injures himself.
Lisa and Maggie are practicing magic tricks in Lisa's room. When Lisa hears Bartman fall, she goes to investigate and unmasks him. Realizing Bartman is her brother, she threatens to tell Homer and Marge, but Bart promises her six months of his allowance for her silence. Lisa hides Bart's costume and Bart is taken back to his room where Dr. Hibbert examines him and reveals Bart has a sprained ankle, which he shouldn't walk on for at least a week. Bart is worried about how he will save Milhouse and stop the lawlessness in Springfield, but Lisa has a plan. She puts together costumes for herself and Maggie and they become Lisa the Conjuror and the Great Maggeena.
Lisa and Maggeena go around town apprehending the escaped prisoners and restoring a sense of hope to the community. This annoys Kent Brockman as they're ruining his story. Kent promises to show the world what Bartman is really up to. Meanwhile, Lisa and Maggeena find the Van Houten house and sneak in to look for clues. They find a label on the Milhouse dummy which leads them to Canker's warehouse hideout. The pair break in but are immediately captured by Canker. Canker activates a lever which opens a pit with oversized novelty chattering teeth in it. As Lisa and Maggeena hold on for their lives, Bart decides to spring into action, despite his sprained ankle, and puts on his costume once more.
