The First Bank of Springfield is a bank in Springfield. It is Homer and Marge's bank.
History
After losing his savings in failed pumpkin investments, Homer visited First Bank of Springfield to request another extension on his overdue mortgage payments. Bank officials reviewed his poor credit history, which included multiple rejected credit card applications and incidents recorded on his permanent record, and refused to approve additional leniency. The bank warned Homer that unless he paid the debt by the following day, his house would be repossessed, increasing the financial pressure that later forced him to borrow money from Patty and Selma and search for extra work.[1]
During the teachers' strike at Springfield Elementary School, Bart Simpson visited the First Bank of Springfield and caused a brief panic among customers by loudly suggesting that the bank had run out of money and was insolvent. The incident occurred in the bank's main lobby, where worried customers rushed to withdraw their funds. Bank employees attempted to calm the crowd, but the confusion quickly escalated into a disturbance before order was restored.[2]
It was once robbed when Marge was there in a line with other people. One of the robbers escaped while the other, Dwight, got out by himself to the police and was put under arrest, only if Marge visited him, although she never did.[3]
