Cultural references

• Terminator: Homer morphs through the hedge and talks to Ned, then chases Ned's car and latches onto it using a couple of golf clubs, similar to the T-1000 in Terminator 2.
• After Homer buys Ned the nacho hat, Homer sings "Nacho, nacho man, I want to be a nacho man", parodying the 1978 song "Macho Man" by Village People.

Continuity

• The Evil House appears. ("Treehouse of Horror")

Goofs

• The man in front of Homer at the ticket booth buys all the tickets available, yet the stands in the stadium are still full. -- The man is obviously a scalper, albeit a rather successful one since he evidently found buyers for all those tickets.
• Homer's car in this episode is green, rather than the usual pink.
• Ned gets disturbed by Homer breathing through his nose during prayer and Ned shouts "BREATH THROUGH YOUR DAMM MOUTH!!!" at him, but in "Hurricane Neddy", Ned mentions to the Lord that he doesn't swear.
