The USS Tom Clancy is a submarine that was booked for a Springfield Elementary School trip.

History

Principal Skinner booked the USS Tom Clancy for a school trip. The trip was available to everyone who was on their best behavior from after the announcement. Many students got crossed off the list of students who could attend and Bart was on his best behavior so he could go as he really wanted to go. When the school bus broke down, Bart ran to the school and got there on time, only to leave muddy footprints on the floor and Skinner crossed him off the list. Skinner then told Bart that he could go on the trip if he did jobs for him, including Skinner's paper round and cleaning his car. However, Skinner left Bart behind anyway, causing Bart and Homer to go and get revenge on him.

Homer told Bart that it probably wasn't a fun trip anyway. Milhouse was then able to fire a torpedo from the submarine, only to be told that the button was a fake. A lighthouse then blew up.

Behind the Laughter

The submarine is named after author Tom Clancy who died in October 2013.
