Mr. Seckofsky was the shop teacher at Springfield High School when Homer and Marge Simpson attended the school.

History

Homer and Barney Gumble skipped his class once while smoking in the toilets, but were caught by Principal Dondelinger and ended up with three days detention. Marge also went to him for a character reference.

After Homer knocked himself out in the toilets, he woke up to Dondelinger and Barney looking over him. Homer realized that his entire life had been a dream, and he and Barney were sent to class. In the class, Mr. Seckofsky explained to the students that they should keep the board tight against the fence when cutting it; otherwise, it would kick back, hit you in the stomach, make you fall forward, hit the blade, and your face would go everywhere.

Behind the Laughter

Mr. Seckofsky holds the record for longest gap between appearances of a Simpsons character, going thirty-five years between appearances. This record was previously held by B. F. Sherwood, who went twenty-three years between appearances.
