History

The first litter of greyhound puppies was born in the Simpson kitchen over the course of several hours, each quickly receiving its own personalized bowl. As they grew, the puppies caused constant disruption in the household, tearing apart Bart's socks, stealing food from Homer's hands, and forcing Marge to make everyone wear flea collars, saying it was "just easier that way." The family also struggled with the mess they created, as Homer repeatedly covered soiled newspapers with new ones, leaving the house in a constant state of disarray.

After the puppies caused further trouble—including triggering a series of incidents involving the IRS, the U.S. Army, and Reverend Lovejoy during a dinner party—the family decided to give them away. Homer put up a "Puppies for free (or best offer)" sign, but the dogs resisted being separated. Mr. Burns offered to take all, and while the Simpsons initially refused, Burns and Mr. Smithers later secretly took them from the house.

Bart and Lisa later discovered the puppies being kept at the mansion and briefly believed they were safe when they saw Burns bathing them, until they overheard his plan to turn them into a tuxedo. They attempted a rescue in the basement but were stopped by Burns, who considered killing them all until the puppies' cuteness and their synchronized standing made it impossible for him to go through with it.

In the end, the puppies grew into champion racing greyhounds, becoming highly successful and earning Mr. Burns over ten million dollars.
