Synopsis

"Patty and Bart team up for the ultimate prank: getting Homer declared legally dead. To their chagrin, Homer loves being officially dead - which leads to Patty and Selma having a huge fight and Patty moving away to "Palm Springfield"."

Plot

One morning at the DMV, Patty and Selma's supervisor, Ken, retires after winning the lottery and, with a coin toss, decides that Selma is the new supervisor. At the dentist, Bart pulls a prank on her when he eats triple cookies in the bathroom just before the checkup, scaring her. The prank ends up costing the family a lot, and as punishment, Homer drills holes in Bart's Xbox, breaking it. When Patty and Selma go to the Simpson house, with Selma showing off her new office photos and mocking Patty's actions at work, Patty goes upstairs and finds Bart in distress over what Homer did to his console.

To get back at him, they conjure a plan where she uses being a twin to her sister and uses Face ID to change Homer's status to deceased on his license. When Homer gets pulled over after dangerously driving while eating, Wiggum informs him of his new status and how he no longer has to pay taxes, union dues, or get spam calls (though he won't be able to rent U-Haul anymore), relieving him of much stress, backfiring on Bart hard, as he also gets a lifetime supply of Krusty Burgers too. At the DMV, Selma finds out thanks to Bart what they did and fires Patty. At home, Marge is stressed too, getting phone calls from both complaining about one another, and Homer suggests that she ghost them.

Patty tries to get a job at El Yogo Loco, but her interview with Squeaky-Voiced Teen goes wrong due to her demands. Bart apologizes for getting her fired and finds out that she has it just like him and Lisa, and proposes that she change up so she doesn't look like her sister, so at Hairy Shearers, Julio cuts her hair in a completely new style, and at Rusty's Piercing she gets a big new earring. Meanwhile, Lisa finds out how Selma's life is similar to hers with Bart and suggests that she dust off her dating profile to find a new love interest, and she does in Merle. When Patty finds out and they keep arguing, she has had enough and moves out to Palm Springfield.

Even with what appear to be happier lives, Bart and Lisa find out that the sisters' life isn't doing better since Patty left and Merle entered Selma's life. Bart and Lisa have a solution: to make them watch golf, something they have in common, together, unknowingly, at the Subaru Dr. Martens LPGA Tournament. To get the tickets, they get the help of Marle to get into the VIP Mx Lounge. However, they don't allow them in since Homer is legally dead and his card is void.

Marge tries to convince him to end the ruse for her family, and it works. The two sisters, however, start fighting in the middle of the golf field, but when Marge separates them to make them realize the lies they're telling themself about their new lives, they realize they need each other, maybe in a separate apartment, and they hug each other, living in the room next to each other at the apartments.
