Beatrice Bouvier is the aunt of Marge, Patty, and Selma, and the ex-wife of Joe Quimby.
History[edit]
In 1982, Beatrice was a member of Joe Quimby's election staff, being the person who got coffee for the person who got Quimby coffee. She told Quimby that he was blowing his chance to do real good for the people of Springfield and said she was quitting. Quimby asked her not to leave, and Beatrice told him that if he wanted her to stay, he had to hit real neighborhoods and meet the people he would be serving. Beatrice then took Quimby to Slobtown, which was where Quimby's father grew up. Quimby was uncomfortable at first due to his lavish lifestyle, but he ended up having fun despite his reservations. Beatrice then made Quimby promise to be the best version of himself.
After Quimby's victory in the election, he proposed to Beatrice, and she accepted. After the wedding, Quimby's father wanted to speak to him. He told Quimby that he had to keep up his philanderer appearance as it was an essential part of his hyper-masculine political image. Quimby agreed to be seen by the public with mistresses while being loyal to Beatrice in private. When he told this to Beatrice, she became upset and left him immediately. As she left, she told a young Marge that princesses and "happily ever after" weren't real, breaking Marge's heart.
In the present day, Marge and Lisa went to see Beatrice because Lisa felt that history was repeating itself with Mayor Quimby's son, Joe Quimby III. Marge was apprehensive about seeing Beatrice because of what she told her when she was four. Beatrice apologized to Marge and told her and Lisa her entire story. Marge and Beatrice then made up again.
